Marvellous Menus for a Memorable Mother’s Day
This Sunday marks the 31st of March marks Mothering Sunday in the UK.
Mothering Sunday is a celebration held to honour mums and maternal figures. Yet traditionally, the original event had nothing to do with mothers at all and it was a day for Christians to visit their ‘mother’ church.
In the past, domestic servants were given the day off to return to their hometown and worship with their families. On their way home, they would pick wild flowers to place in the church – or give to their mum.
Mother’s Day always falls on the fourth Sunday during the period of Lent, when people typically give up cakes or treats for the days leading up to Easter.
Assuming that you are still indulging on the odd piece of cake in spite of Lent, we suggest that you treat your mum to something different this year and surprise her with an afternoon tea to remember.
Should you be struggling for some inspiration we have done the hard work for you and compiled a scrumptious list of our favourite afternoon teas which are serving up something special this Sunday.
